The Astros are the latest team to make a splash in MLB Free Agency.

According to multiple reports, Houston is signing first baseman Christian Walker. It's a three-year, $60 million deal per ESPN's Alden González.

In his reporting, González suggested that this could mean the end of long-time Astros third-baseman Alex Bregman's time in Houston.

"The addition of Walker in all likelihood marks the end of Alex Bregman's tenure in Houston…" he writes. "Walker manning first base for the next three years means Isaac Paredes, the 25-year-old corner infielder who was recently acquired from the Chicago Cubs in the Kyle Tucker trade, will probably be Bregman's replacement at third base."

Bregman has spent his entire major league career with the Astros, winning two World Series' with the club in 2017 and '22.

As for their newest infield addition in Walker, the 33-year-old spent his last eight season with the Diamondbacks and has won three straight NL Gold Gloves at first base. In 2024, he hit .250/.335/.803 with 26 home runs and 84 RBI.

Man Utd keen on new forward despite Mbeumo's impressive start

Off the back of scoring 20 Premier League goals for Brentford last season, Bryan Mbeumo was expected to make an instant impact at Man United, and the forward has certainly made an impressive start, most recently scoring against Liverpool.

The Cameroonian opened the scoring for United after just over one minute, coolly slotting past Giorgi Mamardashvili after being played through by Amad Diallo, with Ruben Amorim’s side going on to pick up a statement 2-1 victory courtesy of a late Harry Maguire winner.

Mbeumo is not the only summer signing who has started to catch the eye in recent weeks, as Benjamin Sesko has found his feet, with the Slovenian finding the back of the net in both the 2-0 victory over Sunderland and 3-1 defeat against Brentford.

With Matheus Cunha also arriving at Old Trafford in the summer, Amorim has plenty of options in attacking areas, but another forward is of interest, with an ambitious move being planned.

Indeed, INEOS certainly aren’t messing around, with a report from Spain revealing Man United are now preparing an offer of around €100m (£87m) for former player Mason Greenwood, who has made an impressive start to the season with Marseille.

Alvaro Negredo has blasted Manchester United's approach towards £74 million ($99.5m) striker Benjamin Sesko, warning them that expecting him to win games on his own is unfair and will only hinder his development. The Slovenian forward has been under the microscope since his big-money arrival from RB Leipzig this summer, but he has struggled to deliver the goals expected of him.

In a dismal 3-1 defeat to Brentford, Sesko finally scored his first goal, but the match summed up his struggles at the club. Against Manchester City in the derby one week prior, Sesko’s performance was nothing short of alarming. With only eight passes completed and a measly three duels won out of nine, he seemed a world away from the striker who was supposed to lead the line for United.

Negredo, who has himself experienced the pressures of a big-money move, insists Sesko needs time to adapt. Speaking about the young striker’s struggles at the former goalscorer made it clear that United’s demands for instant success may be harming his game.

"Benjamin Sesko is a young player. When I played for Man City we were winning almost every match, so it was much easier for me to adapt," he said. "When you sometimes start and sometimes don't, it’s hard. When a striker scores, he always feels better about himself and contributes much more to the team due to the confidence he has in himself. Above all, it’s about patience. They are young players who still have a lot to contribute and cannot be asked to win games alone. 

"I think it is unfair to give so much responsibility to such a young boy. The situation is similar for Benjamin Sesko as it was for me because he's playing. He's been playing almost every game and has scored once."

The Gers were knocked out of the Champions League on Wednesday evening after suffering an embarrassing 6-0 defeat to Club Brugge, losing 9-1 on aggregate over the two legs.

Any chance of a Rangers comeback was ended after going a goal and a man down on the evening after less than 10 minutes, with the hosts running riot for the rest of the game.

Martin, asked if he still had belief that he was the right man to take Rangers forward after the game, said:

“Yeah. I don’t think I’ve learned anything new tonight, just really hurt, really embarrassed by the defeat. It’s probably the toughest night I’ve had as head coach/manager. But it doesn’t it doesn’t change the fact that I think we can get this place going, we can get the team going.

“And as I said, progress and move forward and grow and we have an opportunity to really do that, to feel everything tonight that comes our way and accept it, because we have to with a manner of defeat and then we have a chance to really show some character and some growth and some personality and desire on Sunday.”

Sunday sees the Gers face rivals Celtic for the first time in the 2025/26 Scottish Premiership season, with Martin going on to apologise to the supporters.

Focusing on the game against Celtic, O’Rourke stated that ’Rangers are unlikely to react quickly and sack Martin even if he oversees a defeat’ to the Hoops at Ibrox.

The Blues’ current backline has made a solid start to the new campaign, shipping just one goal in their first three outings, with Josh Acheampong, Tosin Adarabioyo and Trevoh Chalobah all receiving game time, but Maresca could perhaps do with bringing in a more experienced option.

According to a report from Caught Offside, Chelsea have now made an approach to hijack Liverpool’s deal for Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi, who has already given the green light for a move to Anfield.

However, while the Reds are leading the race for Guehi’s signature, their deal has now stalled, with a £35m offer being knocked back by the South Londoners.

Reports from elsewhere have suggested that it may take £40m to prise the England international away from Palace, with Oliver Glasner keen to retain his services until next summer, at which point the 25-year-old’s contract will expire.

With Levi Colwill set for a lengthy spell on the sidelines due to an ACL injury, it is little wonder Maresca wants to bring in a new centre-back before the deadline, and the Palace captain could be exactly what the Blues need.

Crucially, the former Chelsea man is now vastly experienced at Premier League level, making 134 appearances in the competition, while he has also now amassed 23 caps for the Three Lions.

Glasner has also praised the Ivory Coast-born defender for his “fantastic character”, and, having also captained Palace since the beginning of the 2024-25 season, he could make a real difference both on the pitch and in the dressing room.

As such, it is exciting news that Chelsea have made a late approach for Guehi, and they will be hoping his links to the club, and the prospect of remaining in Londonn, will give them the edge over Liverpool.

Celtic's striker question yet to throw up a definitive answer

Brendan Rodgers has made it crystal clear that Celtic want several options across their forward line after Kyogo Furuhashi’s departure. Meanwhile, Nicolas Kuhn moving to Como has left room for more goals to come into the side over the coming weeks.

Addressing their striker situation, the Irishman admitted Shin Yamada’s arrival from Kawasaki Frontale is just the tip of the iceberg, as he stated: “He’ll have a medical over the next couple of days and we’ll have a look at him. According to reports from iAMsport.ro, Celtic have seen an opening bid of £6.9 million turned down for CFR Cluj forward Louis Munteanu, with their owner Ioan Varga said to be holding out for a fee of £15.6 million.
