Departing right-back Alexander-Arnold faced a chorus of boos from the Anfield crowd after he was brought on during Sunday's 2-2 draw with Arsenal. The England defender replaced Conor Bradley in the 67th minute and fans gave him a mixed at best reception, while "there's only one Conor Bradley" chants also echoed through the stadium.

Alexander-Arnold finally confirmed he will leave Liverpool at the end of the season earlier this week, provoking a fierce discourse among the club's fans. While many can accept the 26-year-old's desire to try something new at Real Madrid, others feel the hometown icon has betrayed his local community and that view was clear to see and hear from some supporters during Sunday's game.

Alexander-Arnold didn't make much of an impact during what should be his penultimate fixture at Anfield as a Liverpool player and even played Mikel Merino onside as the Spaniard brought Arsenal back onto level terms.

Getty Images SportWHAT NEXT FOR ALEXANDER-ARNOLD AND LIVERPOOL?
Liverpool have just over a week to prepare for next Monday's trip to Brighton before Anfield says a final goodbye to Alexander-Arnold when the Reds face Crystal Palace on the last weekend of the season.
Chelsea’s dealings in the transfer market over the last couple of years have caught the eye, to say the least, investing more money over the last three years than any side in the Premier League.
Todd Boehly is largely responsible for that, taking over the club in May 2022 and splashing a lorry-load of cash on new players to push the club back towards the summit of the table.
The American spent over £100m on two different players during his time at Stamford Bridge, bringing Moises Caicedo and Enzo Fernández to West London to bolster the midfield department.
The total spend since the 51-year-old’s arrival is now over £1.2b, with other clubs starting to ask questions about the Blues’ capabilities to meet the division’s PSR rules.
They’ve largely been helped by numerous high-profile departures, offloading multiple players no longer in the plans, preventing Enzo Maresca’s side from any financial implications.
Chelsea’s big-money sales in the Boehly era
German international Kai Havertz joined Chelsea with huge expectations after his big-money move to Stamford Bridge from Bayer Leverkusen back in the summer of 2020.
Whilst his spell in West London was overall a difficult one, he would score the winning goal in the Champions League final during his debut campaign at the club – forever cementing himself in the club’s history.
Kai Havertz celebrates after scoring for Chelsea in the Premier League against Everton.
The Blues received a hefty fee for his services in the summer of 2023, joining rivals Arsenal in a mammoth £65m move – a deal that made him the second-most expensive departure in their history.
Conor Gallagher was another high-profile and big-money sale, leaving his boyhood club last summer in a £33m deal to join Atlético Madrid, with João Félix moving in the opposite direction.
The Englishman amassed just under 100 appearances at the Bridge, with numerous supporters disappointed at his exit after featuring in all but one league outing last campaign.
However, the club certainly made the right call in moving one player on, especially after he’s failed to live up to expectations since his transfer – with the Blues cashing in on him whilst his stock is at its highest.
The player who Chelsea made the right call selling
Chelsea’s academy has produced endless talent throughout the years, many of whom have thrived in the senior side after making the jump from the youth levels.
Chelsea captain Reece James
You only have to look as far as the current side in West London, with Reece James currently the first-team captain, rising through the ranks and becoming a key member of the side when fit.
Another player who managed to follow in the same vein was midfielder Mason Mount, who spent 18 years as a player with his boyhood side before departing.
The now 26-year-old endured two successful loan spells at Vitesse and Derby County – linking up with former Blues star Frank Lampard at Pride Park, scoring 11 times in the Championship, which catapulted him into the first-team picture.
Lampard was appointed manager of Chelsea back in the summer of 2019, utilising youth within the first team, which saw Mount receive the opportunity to star for the club he supported as a boy.
He would make a total of 195 appearances, racking up 33 goals and 32 assists, with former boss Lampard dubbing him a “top-level” talent as a result of his importance in the final third.
However, he would join Manchester United for £60m in the summer of 2023, in a move that has halted his progress, featuring just 33 times in the last 18 months, with injuries playing havoc in recent times.
Even when he has featured at Old Trafford, he’s only notched one goal and one assist across all competitions, struggling to match the levels he produced at the Bridge.

As a result, his value has plummeted, with the 26-year-old now only valued at £26m by Transfermarkt, a near 60% decrease on the fee he cost the Red Devils.
Given his rapid decline away from West London, the club certainly made the right call in selling him in 2023, allowing for the investment in the likes of Cole Palmer as a result.
There’s no denying that Mount is a quality player on his day, but he’s been a shadow of his former self over the last few years, needing a huge revival to return to the levels he’s previously showcased.

Manchester City have fallen below their usual expectations this season, but Pep Guardiola has wasted no time in beginning to rebuild his faltering squad.
City's January rebuild continues
Following a historic fourth successive title in a row, Pep hasn’t been able to get his side firing on all cylinders this term. Sitting fifth in the Premier League table, securing Champions League football has become the most realistic aim for the faltering champions.
Last weekend, a surprise 5-1 defeat to Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium compounded their misery, and just two victories in their last six encounters across all competitions hardly served as ideal preperation for the trip to face Leyton Orient in the FA Cup 4th Round this weekend.
Nevertheless, the tie at Brisbane Road serves as an ideal opportunity to speed up the bedding in process regarding Manchester City’s lengthy list of January arrivals. Omar Marmoush was the standout after his big-money move from Eintracht Frankfurt, and the Egyptian, Nico Gonzalez and Vitor Reis all start on Saturday.
Several injections of fresh blood can work wonders in a dressing room, but it may also take time for everyone to acclimatise. Despite the Blues’ recent woes, fielding some of their new signings against League One opposition may the ideal platform to build an understanding within a squad that is lacking vibrancy at the moment.
However, with movement into the building comes casualties, and Guardiola has now sanctioned an out-of-window deal for one star who finds himself on the fringes at the Etihad.
Man City sanction Kayky loan exit
As first reported by journalist Vene Casagrande, Man City will loan fringe winger Kayky to Brazilian outfit Bahia, a move that has now been confirmed by both clubs.
He wrote on X: “Striker Kayky, 21, is back at Bahia. The deal was recently finalized and will be announced soon. The player belongs to the City Group and was at Sparta Rotterdam in the Netherlands, and will be loaned to Tricolor Baiano. Another good signing for Bahia.”

Previously on loan at Sparta Rotterdam during the first half of the campaign, the 21-year-old struggled for meaningful minutes in the Eredivisie. Despite his lack of impact, Kayky did record a 100% dribble success rate in the Dutch top-flight, showing a glimmer of what he has to offer in the right enviromnent.
Touted as someone who could ‘become a very good player in the future’ by Brazil icon Rivaldo, big things are still expected of the youngster who notched three goals and four assists in 28 appearances during a similar loan spell with Bahia in 2023.
Globo Esporte report Kayky has signed for the entirety of the 2025 campaign in his homeland. You get the impression he can kick on at one of the City Football Group’s affiliates before a decision is made on his long-term future in Manchester further down the line.
Liverpool are going to have to make do without an “outstanding” player for the foreseeable future alongside Joe Gomez, according to reliable journalist James Pearce.
Latest Liverpool news
The Reds are still reeling from their 2-2 draw away to Everton on Wednesday evening, having come within seconds of securing their most precious Premier League victory so far.
That said, a point was still no disaster at Goodison Park, leaving Liverpool seven points clear at the top of the table, and it is now vital that Arne Slot’s side respond on Sunday afternoon, as they welcome Wolves to Anfield.
Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah
In terms of Reds-related transfer news, RB Leipzig centre-back Castello Lukeba has been linked with a move to the club this summer, as Slot looks to bolster his defensive options. At 22, he is still a maturing footballer, but one who has already made 59 appearances for the Bundesliga side.
Mohamed Salah’s Liverpool future still hasn’t been sorted, meaning potential replacements for him need to be lined up, one of whom is reportedly Karim Adeyemi. The German has four goals in as many appearances to his name in the Champions League in 2024/25 to date.
Liverpool dealt injury blow to "outstanding" ace
According to The Athletic’s Pearce on X, Liverpool midfielder Tyler Morton will be “out for around three months” after a successful surgery on a shoulder injury.
That comes in the same update as Gomez, who is “undergoing further tests on his hamstring amid fears he’s facing another lengthy lay-off”, having limped out of last weekend’s 1-0 defeat away to Plymouth Argyle in the FA Cup fourth round.
Liverpool's Trent Alexander-Arnold celebrates scoring their second goal withTylerMortonand Kostas Tsimikas
Morton may not be a key player for Liverpool this season, with the likes of Ryan Gravenberch, Alexis Mac Allister, Dominik Szoboszlai, Curtis Jones and Harvey Elliott all ahead of him in the pecking order, but this still acts as a setback ahead of the business end of the campaign.
The 22-year-old has still managed five appearances so far this season, bringing poise in the middle of the park, and he was lauded by Liam Rosenior during their time together at Hull City earlier in the Reds youngster’s career.
“Some of his play, honestly. He can do everything as a midfield player. When we were recruiting in the summer, he fits completely into the way we want to play. The beauty with Tyler is he can play deep, and he can be just as effective there, but what we’ve seen in training is he can create and score goals. It was about fitting the functionality of the team around him. He was outstanding.”
It may even be that Morton has now played his final game for Liverpool, however, should he not play for the remainder of the campaign.

West Indies slumped to their lowest total in women’s T20Is as England completed a 5-0 whitewash over them in the five-T20I series with an eight-wicket win in Bridgetown.England only took 16.2 overs to bowl West Indies out, with Freya Davies and Alice Davidson-Richards taking three wickets apiece while Charlie Dean chipped in with two. In response, England reached the 44 target in quick time, wrapping up the game inside the powerplay, in 5.3 overs.West Indies chose to bat in search of a maiden win in the five-match series, but after an uneventful first over, they lost wickets in each of the next three overs, and one more inside the powerplay. Davies made breakthroughs with the dismissals of Hayley Matthews and Rashada Williams, while Nat Sciver and Issy Wong accounted for Aaliyah Alleyne and Shabika Gajnabi respectively. Dean then removed middle-order batters Trishan Holder and Kyshona Knight just after the powerplay. At that stage, West Indies were 24 for 6 in 9.1 overs, and that would soon be 30 for 8 when Davidson-Richards picked off both Afy Fletcher and Djenaba Joseph (11) – the top-scorer for West Indies with 11 – in the same over. Davidson-Richards and Davies then cleaned up the tail to return combined figures of 6 for 7.The England chase began with a 22-run partnership between Danni Wyatt and Sophia Dunkley. Dunkley, and Wyatt later, fell, but Sciver finished the game off with a flourish, hitting three fours in her 12-ball 20 not out.Davies was named Player of the Match for her 14-ball spell that had 12 dots, one maiden over, and three wickets for only two runs.
Uncapped Bengal opener and captain Abhimanyu Easwaran is set to join India’s Test squad in Chattogram for the two-match series against Bangladesh, starting December 14.ESPNcricinfo has learned that the selectors are awaiting a final report from the BCCI’s medical staff on Rohit Sharma’s left thumb injury he picked during the second ODI. Rohit rushed back home to Mumbai on Wednesday and visited a BCCI-appointed specialist. The team management is optimistic about him getting fit before the second Test, which starts on December 22 in Mirpur. The two-match series is part of the World Test Championship.Easwaran is currently in Sylhet, where he led India A during their two-match red-ball tour against Bangladesh A. Against a line-up comprising several Test players, he made scores of 141 and 157 in his two innings. The 157 also earned him the Player-of-the-Match award as it helped India A carve up a lead big enough to seal victory by an innings and 123 runs.Easwaran is no stranger to Bangladeshi conditions, having been a regular participant in the Dhaka Premier League circuit. This year, he had represented Prime Bank in Bangladesh’s 50-over club competition. However, it was his performances for India A on the shadow tour that signalled his readiness.Easwaran was earlier part of India’s Test squad on their tour of England last year. Having made his first-class debut in December 2013, he has risen to be among India’s next-in-line as far as red-ball openers go over the last three years. His overall first-class numbers are formidable: 5576 runs in 134 innings at an average of 45.33, with a best of 233.He broke through into the India-A reckoning following a prolific Ranji Trophy season in 2018-19, when he made 861 runs at an average of 95.66. While his returns nose-dived in 2019-20, where he managed just 258 runs at 17.20, his potential helped him stay on the selectors’ radar. As things stand, KL Rahul and Shubman Gill are likely to open in the first Test in Chattogram should Rohit miss the bus. Easwaran, on current form, offers a viable back-up option.

Looking to sharpen what has been a blunt frontline at times this season, Everton are now reportedly plotting a summer swoop to sign a talented Ligue 1 winger for David Moyes.
Everton transfer news
With Moyes back in charge, the Toffees have looked rejuvenated at times and are finally moving beyond the concerns of potential relegation and back towards the Premier League’s top half. It’s progress that The Friedkin Group needed and progress that the Toffees are making every week in their final season at Goodison Park.
Of course, it’s not just their new ownership which is signifying a new era for the Merseyside club. Bidding farewell to Goodison Park at the end of the season, Everton will commence the start of a new chapter at the new Bramley-Moore Dock stadium, which has already hosted a test match between their academy and Wigan Athletic.
With a state-of-the-art stadium may well come fresh faces, too, with Friedkin looking to pick up where they left off in the January transfer window following the arrival of Carlos Alcaraz.

According to Graeme Bailey for The Boot Room, having sent their scouts, Everton are now plotting a summer swoop to sign Luis Henrique from Marseille, but face competition from Nottingham Forest and Newcastle United.
The Brazilian has found his best form in France to earn Premier League interest and could yet have an important decision to make when the summer arrives. There’s no doubt that he would sharpen Moyes’ frontline ahead of the manager’s first full season in charge of Everton in over a decade.
2400% price rise: Everton must regret selling flop who’s "one of the best"

Whether the Toffees can fend off the competition of both Newcastle and Forest remains to be seen, but Henrique would certainly be an impressive coup.
"Sensational" Henrique could replace Harrison
If Everton want to match their top-half ambitions, signing an upgrade on the likes of Jack Harrison should be their first move this summer. And Henrique would offer them exactly that. Given how successful their last signing from Marseille was, the Toffees should push on and secure a potential repeat of their Iliman Ndiaye deal.

The numbers speak for themselves and paint the picture of what has been a disappointing spell for Harrison. Henrique, meanwhile, is on the rise and a player Everton should have on their wishlist this summer.
At just 23 years old, the winger’s potential is ever-increasing with Everton potentially taking full advantage. Dubbed “sensational” by U23 scout Antonio Mango earlier this season, Henrique is undeniably one to watch this summer.
When the transfer window swings open, Friedkin could continue their solid start by handing Moyes some much-needed fresh faces in pursuit of taking the club back where they belong. In turn, that could spell the end for Harrison in Merseyside once and for all after two loan spells at Everton.
Those of a Tottenham Hotspur persuasion will hope the worst of the club’s issues this season are behind them.
It’s been a tough ride, with Spurs nursing grievances relating to seemingly endless injury issues. Well, for Ange Postecoglou and his brood, there may be actual light at the end of the tunnel ahead of the final three months of the campaign.
Tottenham might be on the wrong end of a cliff in the Premier League as they look to climb toward the European places, but they are into the last 16 of the Europa League, facing AZ Alkmaar in a two-legged tie over the next few weeks.
Rotation, an incongruous term only a few weeks ago down N17, is possible. And needed. Those such as Pedro Porro are exhausted, with performance levels sliding.
Pedro Porro's struggles in 24/25
Porro has been an important part of Postecoglou’s Tottenham project over the past couple of years, but he’s indeed struggling this season, both positionally and in staying strong against pacey wingers.

But the Spaniard’s issues can’t solely be blamed on being overworked. Porro, 25, records energetic, high-output numbers. He’s athletic and tenacious, but has limitations defensively, exposing Tottenham time and time again.
Indeed, Ange watched in frustration as his side’s three-match winning streak in the Premier League was ended in midweek against Manchester City, with Porro enduring a torrid time against the fleet-footed Jeremy Doku.
With the resurgent Djed Spence playing out of his skin this term, Porro may well be fighting for his long-term starting place at Tottenham – but he’s not the only one.
Others have fared worse in 2024/25, with one particular first-team regular surely playing out his final few months of football under Postecoglou’s wing.
Levy must cash in on Spurs "passenger"
Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy needs to do a lot of self-reflecting this summer as he and Postecoglou devise a plan for success.

Fresh faces are sure to be needed, but Spurs should also push certain strugglers towards the exit door – with one midfielder flattering to deceive once again this term.
Frankly, Yves Bissouma hasn’t been at the races for a while, lacking discipline and composure. While technically gifted and a robust midfielder with a dynamic approach, Tottenham have been let down one too many times.
Tottenham midfielder Yves Bissouma
It’s rather telling that the Mali international has only started one Premier League match in 2025 – and in that very game, against Arsenal, he was hooked at the interval.
As per Sofascore, the 28-year-old has only won 51% of his contested duels in the top flight this season, having also averaged 2.1 tackles per game and made four errors. To highlight his regression in defensive phases, he won 2.9 tackles per fixture in 2023/24, winning 59% of his duels.
Correspondent Alasdair Gold even branded him a “passenger” after Spurs were thrashed by Liverpool in the Carabao Cup, with Bissouma not stepping up and adding the punch to the midfield that his injury-depleted team needed.
All the pointers suggest Bissouma has been made expendable by Postecoglou, and if a lasting resurgence is to become a reality in north London, he will need to be sold and replaced.
Given next season will be the final year in his £55k-per-week contract, the need for Tottenham to cash in while they can is only heightened.

THE BIGGER PICTURE
Three successive promotions have lifted the Red Dragons out of the National League and into the Championship. They have cleared every hurdle put in front of them so far, but the next challenge promises to be their biggest yet.
WHAT BEN FOSTER SAID
Ex-England international Foster, who helped Wrexham to the National League title in 2023, has told his of what happens next in North Wales: “I genuinely think within five years, Wrexham will be in the Premier League. Next season is so, so hard for Wrexham. Championship next season is so hard.
“They just need to consolidate for a year, maybe two, maybe three, but then I think they are going to be looking at, from this point onwards – a five-year period – we need to be challenging in five years’ time.”

Ben Tozer, another promotion-winning hero from Wrexham’s recent past, added on what Phil Parkinson and his board need to do in order to remain competitive: “They have to sign quality players. There will be ones that sadly have to go, because that is part and parcel of football.
“The gaffer will sign experienced players as well. You will need a couple of knowhows again. They have already got a few of them in the squad, which is lucky. It’s tough because they need to have a bit of an overhaul, but not crazy.”
