England Test captain Ben Stokes will play no part in the early stages of Durham’s County Championship campaign, but head coach Ryan Campbell firmly believes the allrounder will be operating at 100 per cent for his country this summer.Stokes is currently undergoing rehab from hamstring surgery at the start of year, after tearing the muscle twice in six months, including aggravating the injury in the final Test of England’s tour of New Zealand. The 33-year-old has not played since, but has stepped up his recovery, with a recent video posted on his Instagram showing he has started bowling again.England begin their Test summer against Zimbabwe on May 22 at Trent Bridge, which leads into a five-match series against India. With a trip to Australia for the Ashes to follow, Stokes will use the next few weeks to reinforce his body for the rigours of 11 Test matches in the space of eight months. Having suffered the first hamstring tear during the Hundred last year, he has already pulled out of representing Northern Superchargers this August to rest after the India series, with the Ashes set to begin in Perth on November 21.Stokes has frequented Chester-le-Street during his rehabilitation, and was there on Monday during Durham’s media day, performing shuttle runs on the outfield. It was always going to be a difficult task for Man United to get something from Sunday’s game, but the manner of the defeat is likely to be particularly concerning, with Ruben Amorim’s side suffering a 3-0 defeat at the hands of bitter rivals Manchester City.

Speaking after the game, Paul Scholes suggested a simple lack of quality on United’s behalf was the difference between the two sides, with the club legend particularly critical of the midfield.

Scholes said: “I don’t think the quality is there. “Whatever two out of the four or five they have got in [midfield] – Casemiro, Bruno [Fernandes], [Kobbie] Mainoo – whatever combination he seems to try doesn’t seem to work.

The Sky Sports pundit said: “The midfield is a massive problem, and we’ve known that. United fans know that. The 24-year-old is set to sign an extension until 2030, with journalist Dean Jones reporting that it could make Saliba the club’s highest earner on around £300,000-per-week.

It is a serious statement of intent from Berta, who has sent a clear message to the rest of Europe that Arsenal will no longer be bullied into selling their best players.

Since the very start of 2022/2023, Saliba and Gabriel have established themselves as one of the best centre-back partnerships in world football, and keeping both of them comes as an absolutely massive boost for Arsenal.

Now, as per reliable club insider ‘HandOfArsenal’ on X, the pair actually had a secret pact all along, and Berta is lining up another statement move immediately after securing Saliba.

يذكر أن موعد مباراتي بيراميدز أمام بتروجيت وكهرباء الإسماعيلية، يومي 3 و6 من شهر ديسمبر، وذلك سيكون في نفس وقت مشاركة منتخب مصر في بطولة كأس العرب بقطر.
