Cricket South Africa (CSA) has clarified that its CEO, Thabang Moroe, remains suspended after he attempted to return to work on Thursday morning.Moroe was suspended on December 6, 2019 amid allegations of misconduct, and Dr Jacques Faul was appointed as an acting replacement, initially for a period of six months.CSA hoped to wrap up Moore’s disciplinary proceedings in that time. However, they have not completed a forensic audit which is key to some of the allegations Moroe is facing – including credit card misuse – and his case remains unresolved. While it is understood Faul was given an extension for “as long as needed”, Moroe tried to resume his position but found the organisation’s doors locked as CSA’s staff have been working from home since late March when South Africa went into lockdown because of the Covid-19 pandemic. CSA’s Board has now confirmed he remains suspended and cannot return to work.”The letter of suspension issued to the Chief Executive Officer explicitly stated that he was suspended until the conclusion of the independent forensic investigation. This investigation is not yet complete and therefore the Chief Executive Officer remains suspended and any assertion that his suspension was for a pre-determined period is without basis,” a CSA statement issued late on Thursday read.They also confirmed the delay in Moore’s case is due to the unfinished forensics audit, which they expect “imminently.”Earlier in the week, the South African Cricketers’ Association (SACA) accused CSA’s Board of lacking the will to complete the Moroe case and of deliberate delaying tactics. SACA cited that six other staff members, who were all suspended late last year, have had their proceedings completed and SACA believes CSA has sufficient evidence to proceed on Moroe without the audit.CSA denied SACA’s claim. “This remains a matter of utmost concern to the Board. The Board wishes to assure all stakeholders and the public that this matter is receiving all the attention it deserves. However, the Board is also at pains to ensure that due process is followed at all times,” the statement said.They promised “more clarity” before the end of June. Until then, Moroe remains in full pay of R 350,000 a month (approx US$ 20,800), even though CSA is facing major financial losses.

Com uma escalação repleta de jovens jogadores, o São Paulo conseguiu equilibrar a questão física nos primeiros minutos de jogo. Contra um time que não jogava desde junho e, portanto, estava descansado, embora sem ritmo, os jogadores mais novos do Tricolor deram bastante ritmo ao meio de campo, deixando o jogo bem disputado nos minutos iniciais, com o Racing ocupando mais o campo de ataque.

Nos primeiros 20 minutos, ocorreram poucas chances claras. A melhor oportunidade foi dos donos da casa, quando Rodrigo Nestor recebeu a bola na área após erro da defesa do Racing. O meia, porém, escorregou, perdendo a chance de bater para o gol argentino. VITOR BUENO PERDE CHANCE INCRÍVEL

Logo na sequência do gol, o São Paulo armou um contra-ataque em que Welington ficou cara a cara com o goleiro, mas decidiu rolar a bola para Vitor Bueno finalizar com mais facilidade. O camisa 12, porém, bateu mal e viu, ainda, Arias fazer uma grande defesa e impedir que o Tricolor ampliasse a liderança no placar.

COPETTI EMPATA A PARTIDA NO ÚLTIMO LANCE DO PRIMEIRO TEMPO

No final da primeira etapa, o Racing se lançou ao ataque em busca do empate. A pressão deu certo e, aos 46 minutos de jogo, no último lance do primeiro tempo, Copetti recebeu passe no lado esquerdo do ataque e teve liberdade para ajeitar e bater da entrada da área e fazer o gol de empate. A bola entrou no canto direito de Volpi e os argentinos empataram o placar em 1 a 1.

FIM DE PRIMEIRO TEMPO

O primeiro tempo acabou com um placar que traduziu o equilíbrio do jogo. Os dois times marcaram quando procuraram mais o ataque. Entretanto, o empate puniu o Tricolor pela chance clara de gol não aproveitada quando o jogo ainda estava 1 a 0.

SEGUNDO TEMPO COMEÇA COM RACING FECHADO NA DEFESA

A segunda etapa começou sem nenhuma substituição nos dois lados. Porém, o Racing mudou sua estrutura dentro de campo, passando a se defender em linha de cinco jogadores, se protegendo mais. Os argentinos, assim, entraram na segunda etapa cautelosos para não perderem um empate que pode ser muito vantajoso para o jogo em Avellaneda. O São Paulo, porém, não se abriu muito, para não correr muitos riscos em eventuais contragolpes. Os argentinos controlaram o jogo no começo da segunda etapa.

CRESPO MEXE E SÃO PAULO VAI PARA CIMA

Aos 15 minutos do segundo tempo, o treinador Hernán Crespo fez alterações na equipe, promovendo a criação de jogo e a ofensividade do time. Com isso, Benítez e Gabriel Sara entraram no lugar de Liziero e Igor Gomes. Ao colocar em campo um dos principais criadores do time, Benítez, a articulação do time e o volume de jogo ofensivo cresceram. Com as infiltrações dos meias, o São Paulo chegou a levar perigo com uma finalização de Gabriel Sara, que pegou muito embaixo da bola e chutou por cima do gol.

RACING RESPONDE, LEVA PERIGO E COMANDA O SEGUDNO TEMPO

Durante o segundo tempo, a postura do Racing mudou e o time passou a se lançar o ataque, aproveitando espaços na defesa do Tricolor. Assim, o time criou chances perigosas em uma chegada de Piatti, afastada por Arboleda e no bom chute de Martínez, aproveitando o rebote e obrigando Volpi a fazer boa defesa em uma finalização de fora da área.

CRESPO APOSTA AINDA MAIS NA BASE

Com uma escalação inicial com seis jogadores formados em Cotia, o treinador colocou dois jovens atletas recém-promovidos da base em campo, Talles e Marquinhos. Apostando na leveza e velocidade da dupla, o treinador tentou fazer o Tricolor voltar a ter mais volume de jogo no ataque.

JOGO FICA LÁ E CÁ NOS MINUTOS FINAIS

O final do jogo foi disputado em ritmo alucinante. Com os dois times tentando ficar na frente no placar, chances perigosas foram criadas dos dois lados do campo. Aos 39 minutos da segunda etapa, Mena recebeu a bola sozinho na área para cabecear, mas mandou ela por cima do travessão. No lance seguinte, aos 40 minutos, Benítez arriscou de longe e obrigou Arias a fazer bela defesa.

FIM DE JOGO! AGORA É NA ARGENTINA

O Racing controlou as ações durante a maior parte do segundo tempo, levando perigo em algumas oportunidades e por pouco não virando o placar. O São Paulo caiu de produção e conseguiu levar perigo apenas em um chute de longa distância, já nos minutos finais do jogo. O Racing passou muito perto de sair do Morumbi com a vitória, enquanto o São Paulo pode pagar caro pelos vacilos cometidos no primeiro tempo, quando o jogo ainda estava 1 a 0.

Com o empate, o Racing entre em campo napróxima terça-feira (20), às 21h30, no El Cilindro, já classificado, obrigando o São Paulo a se lançar ao ataque para conseguir uma vitória inédita contra o Racing e passar para as quarta de final.

Dois pontos, porém, foram fundamentais: o técnico, quando tinha a bola no campo de defesa, optou por uma saída de três com Mezenga, Gilvan e o lateral-direito Daniel Borges. Com Chamusca, era Guilherme Santos, lateral do lado oposto, quem participava dessa parte do jogo, mas o camisa 88 apresentava dificuldade para sair jogando de forma curta.

O meio-campo formado por Barreto, Romildo e Marco Antônio, porém, não funcionou – o que colocou em xeque a formação da saída de bola. A trinca não se apresentou para receber a bola em uma posição recuada do campo, o que dificultou o Botafogo a dar prosseguimento em qualquer jogada.

Quando chegou ao ataque, o Botafogo buscou “isolar” Diego Gonçalves com apenas um marcador do Confiança – de preferência Marcelinho, o lateral-direito, para aproveitar a vantagem de altura do atleta alvinegro – que, por acaso, desperdiçou boa chance de cabeça. Para isso, o time ficava trocando passes pelo lado direito até atrair boa parte da defesa adversária e, então, rapidamente virava o jogo.

Dos males, o menor. O Botafogo não jogou bem, mas a avaliação, diante do contexto, passa inteiramente pelo resultado. A vitória foi importante para o time derrubar dois jejuns e tentar se recuperar na tabela.

It would probably be fair to say that Tottenham Hotspur have had mixed luck with transfers over the last five years or so.

Daniel Levy and Co have sometimes gotten it very right, such as with Cristian Romero, Micky van de Ven, and Destiny Udogie, but there have also been some significant blunders, such as Giovani Lo Celso, Tanguy Ndombele, and Emmerson Royal, just to name a few.

However, another miss is often forgotten: Ryan Sessegnon.

The Englishman, who was signed by Mauricio Pochettino, has seen his value plummet and is now worth nine times less than summer signing James Maddison.

Ryan Sessegnon's Spurs career

Pochettino's Lilywhites paid around £25m to sign the "incredible" Sessegnon, as described by talent scout Jacek Kulig, from Fulham in the summer of 2019 following an impressive season from the then-19-year-old in which he scored two goals and provided six assists in 35 Premier League games for the West Londoners.

Unfortunately for all involved, his first year in north London was a disaster. He made just 12 appearances all season, scoring one goal and providing one assist, and missed 33 games due to a hamstring injury.

The following year was a little better on the injury front as he only missed nine games, and a loan move to Bundesliga side Hoffenheim saw him make 29 first-team appearances, in which he scored twice and turned provider five times.

However, just when it looked like things had taken a turn for the better, the England U21 international was hit with more injury problems.

Over the next three seasons, these problems would see him miss 92 games, which limited him to 45 mostly substitute appearances in those three campaigns.

Ultimately, while the 23-year-old was once dubbed a "huge talent" by former teammate Stefan Johansen, half a decade of persistent injury problems and minimal game time has seriously taken a toll on Sessegnon's career and valuation.

According to the CIES Football Observatory, Sessegnon is worth just €5m today, which converts to around £4m, or £21m less than the fee Spurs paid Fulham for the full-back almost five years ago.

This new price means that the Roehampton-born ace – who could be allowed to leave for free this summer – is the least valuable full-back at Tottenham, with Emerson Royal coming in just ahead of him with a price tag of €20m – £17m.

Another player worth considerably more is summer signing Maddison, whom the CIES price at €40m, or £34m, which works out to be about just under 9x more than the former Fulham man.

That said, it shouldn't come as a massive surprise as the 27-year-old has enjoyed a relatively successful first year in N17, racking up four goals and eight assists in 29 games, and even won the Premier League Player of the Month award in August.

Ultimately, while he has been extremely unlucky with injuries and hasn't had the chance to develop, it's probably time that Spurs moved on from Sessegnon this summer, as there is little to no evidence suggesting that he'll be a useful squad player next year, and his £55k-per-week wages could be better spent elsewhere.

Brijesh Patel says IPL “should get” permission from the Indian government to move to the UAE

The 2020 edition of the IPL will be played in the UAE, Brijesh Patel, the IPL Governing Council chairman, confirmed to ESPNcricinfo today. Patel said that a formal announcement on the matter would be made when the body meets next.Patel did not confirm the dates for the tournament, but as reported recently, the BCCI has penciled in the window between September 26 and November 7 for the IPL, which comprises 60 matches. Patel said that the BCCI had been waiting for the ICC to formally postpone the men’s T20 World Cup this year, which has happened now, and freed up a window for the tournament.”We were waiting for the ICC to officially announce [the postponement],” Patel said. “We have applied [for permission] with the Indian government. Should get it.”Patel said Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah would be the three main venues. Asked about whether the tournament would be played behind closed doors, Patel said that “depends on the UAE government”. It is understood that the franchises are yet to be formally informed about the tournament being shifted out of India.In April, the BCCI had postponed the IPL indefinitely because of the Covid-19 pandemic. Over the years, Everton have done an excellent job of developing youngsters who have gone on to feature in first-team or even make a name for themselves elsewhere.

Unsurprisingly, Wayne Rooney is the name that springs to mind, after he burst onto the scene back in 2002/03, scoring his first senior goal in superb fashion, with his long-range effort against Arsenal at Goodison Park.

Anthony Gordon is the latest big name to come out of Finch Farm, featuring 78 times for the Toffees’ first team, before departing for £45m to join Newcastle in 2023 – thriving this season scoring 11 times in the league.

However, the club currently have an ageing squad, with the average age of Sean Dyche’s first team standing at 26.7, the fifth oldest in the division this season.

The club need to inject some more youth into the side, with Jarrad Branthwaite thriving with regular game time – subsequently being subject to £70m interest from top-flight rivals Manchester United this summer.

With the transfer window rapidly approaching, Dyche will want to add to his squad. But, he can save himself and the club a lot of money, by unleashing one youngster who has excelled within the club’s academy.

Roman Dixon’s record with Everton’s U21s

An England youth international, right-back Roman Dixon has impressed for the club in the Premier League 2 this season, featuring 17 times and starting 80% of those matches.

He’s previously excelled within the academy, including a speedy and direct solo run against Manchester City, topped off with an excellent finish – an example of the quality he possesses.

Dixon also featured three times in the Bristol Street Motors trophy this season, gaining valuable experience facing off against League One and League Two opposition in his first taste of senior football.

The youngster is yet to feature in any capacity under Dyche, but with his excellent form and the need for a right-back at Goodison, next season could be a perfect time for the talent to break into the first team.

Seamus Coleman has featured at full-back for well over a decade, but with the Irishman coming towards the end of his career, it’s time Dyche banished the hero from the starting lineup and injected some needed youth into the side.

Why Dyche must replace Coleman next season

The 35-year-old defender has featured 421 times for the Toffees since his debut way back in 2009, with Coleman becoming a staple under numerous different managers on Merseyside.

However, his age has caught up to him, with the defender starting to struggle with his injuries in recent seasons.

The “outstanding” teen, as dubbed by The Athletic’s Everton correspondent Patrick Boyland, has all the qualities to thrive in the Premier League as a modern-day full-back.

His pace and tenacity would easily fit into Dyche’s system – having been hailed as 'a speedy and powerful right-back' by the club's official website – with the youngster needing a chance to prove himself up to the demands of England’s top flight.

He’s certainly still a raw talent, but given his success within the club’s academy setup, he could well be ready for the jump into senior football – Coleman's expiring contract offering the perfect opportunity for a changing of the guard.

Considering the club's financial situation, they may not have the funds to find a suitable replacement for Coleman, thus allowing them to devote more first-team minutes to Dixon and ensuring the club reap the rewards in the long term.

أكد الحسيني أبو قمر، نائب رئيس نادي المصري البورسعيدي، على تزايد طموحات الفريق بعد النتائج الإيجابية التي يحققها، مشيرًا إلى وجود أكثر من لاعب مميز في كل مركز، وأن الإدارة لن تتردد في دعم الفريق بالتعاقدات الجديدة إذا لزم الأمر.

ويتصدر المصري البورسعيدي جدول ترتيب الدوري المصري بعد مرور 4 جولات، برصيد 10 نقاط، ويأتي الزمالك خلفه بـ 9 نقاط، بينما الأهلي يحل في المركز الثالث بـ 8 نقاط.

وقال الحسيني أبو قمر، نائب رئيس النادي المصري البورسعيدي، في تصريحات عبر برنامجه “اللعبة الحلوة”، على إذاعة “اون سبورت إف إم”: “مع النتائج الجيدة الطموح يزيد، وعندنا في كل مركز أكثر من لاعب، ولو الفريق احتاج تدعيماً، الإدارة لن تبخل”.

وتابع: “عبد الرحيم دغموم، من أفضل اللاعبين في الفريق، والجميع يُحبه وعنده انتماء، وإن شاء الله سنجدد تعاقده”.

وأضاف: “البعثة ستسافر بعد غد إلى موزمبيق لمواجهة بلاك بولز في كأس الكونفدرالية، والفريق الحمد لله يسير بخطوات جيدة، وكل فترة نخلق دوافع جديدة للاعبين”.

واختتم: “اللعب في استاد السويس حرصًا على الجماهير من عدم السفر مسافات طويلة، لأن الجمهور عامل مهم لو لعبت من غيرهم سنكون مثل أي ناد خاص، ونحن حريصين على اللعب بالقرب منهم لحين الانتهاء من استاد النادي المصري في الموسم المُقبل، والعودة للعب عليه”.

Eleito o melhor em capo, Rigoni falou sobre a vitória depois do jogo e exaltou a preparação da equipe para o jogo importante.

– Para nós é muito importante a classificação, porque vínhamos trabalhando há muito tempo, mas os resultados não vinham. Tínhamos consciência do esforço que vínhamos fazendo. Mudamos um pouco a dinâmica, fizemos o que gostaríamos de fazer, o que sentíamos falta, e o resultado veio – afirmou Rigoni à Conmebol.
