West Brom are reportedly interested in signing an international striker with over 100 career goals to his name, as Carlos Corberan eyes some important January transfer business.

The Baggies are looking good for a Championship playoff finish at the moment, as Corberan continues to do an impressive job in the Hawthorns hot seat. They cannot afford to rest on their laurels, however, given the level of competition around them, and new signings this month could make them even stronger.

West Brom have been linked with a host of players in recent weeks, including Liverpool youngster Fabio Carvalho, who is now joining Hull City. Bournemouth and Wales striker Kieffer Moore has also emerged as a reported target for the Championship outfit, having fallen out of favour at the Cherries of late, not helped by the brilliant form of Dominic Solanke.

Wolves defender Dexter Lembikisa is another player who could move to the Baggies on loan, in order to keep developing and enjoy more regular playing time away from the Premier League.

Goals are something that are priceless in football, which is why West Brom could be in the market for a new striker this month, and an international target is seen as an option to come in and bolster the attacking options that Corberan has to choose from currently.

West Brom want Umit Nayir

According to an update from journalist Yagiz Sabuncuoglu on X, West Brom are keen on signing Fenerbahce striker Umut Nayir, but face competition from fellow Championship side Cardiff City.

Nayir may not necessarily be a well-known player to English football fans currently, but he is someone who may act as such an eye-catching signing by West Brom in the January window. The 30-year-old has barely played a part in Fenerbahce's current campaign in the league, featuring for just 49 minutes across five appearances, but the Baggies could represent a great fresh start for him.

Nayir has not only scored once in four caps for Turkey, but he also has an overall career tally of 118 strikes to his name at club level, outlining his pedigree as a goalscorer. He may not be getting any younger, but he has a wealth of experience at huge Turkish clubs such as Besiktas, which means he shouldn't be daunted by the prospect of playing in England for the first time.

Having plenty of attacking choices is going to be vital for Corberan in the remaining months of the season, with injuries and form likely to affect certain players, so acquiring Nayir could allow the West Brom manager to rotate effectively and also have strong options from the substitutes' bench.

Whilst Sunderland's main focus has seemingly been on finding attacking reinforcements throughout the January transfer window, they could yet seal the return of a player in a deal that those at The Stadium of Light deem a dream move.

The Black Cats' search for a striker has taken them to Sam Gallagher, Macaulay Langstaff and Kieffer Moore. According to the latest reports, it is the latter who seems the most likely, with rumours of Sunderland submitting a loan offer to Bournemouth for the Welshman's services. And although an agreement is yet to be reached with the Cherries, a first offer is certainly a step in the right direction. Away from their pursuit of attacking additions, meanwhile, the Championship play-off-hopefuls could seal the return of a midfielder who last played at The Stadium of Light in the Premier League.

According to journalist Santi Aouna, Sunderland have now made contact with the agent of Yann M'Vila over a potential move this month. A dream target for the Black Cats, M'Vila is currently without a club which makes any potential deal a simpler one to secure. Aouna posted the news on X, saying:

A boost for Sunderland is the fact that M'Vila previously spoke of his desire to return to the club, saying:

"I spoke with a lot of Ligue 1 clubs, but I didn’t get the little thing. Given my qualities and my leadership, I think I can help a lot of teams. I believe in myself. I don’t need the money. I want to play. With all the respect I have for Ligue 2, I don’t see myself playing in this championship.

“There is only one club for which I would have agreed to return to the lower division for, it is Sunderland, to help them return to the Premier League. I had an extraordinary year there."

M'Vila has unfinished business at Sunderland

After completing a season-long loan move at Sunderland during the 2015/16 campaign, helping the Black Cats to avoid Premier League relegation by two points as Newcastle United instead suffered the drop, M'Vila never got his return to The Stadium of Light. Now 33 years old, however, the defensive midfielder has the chance to complete some unfinished business.

From Michael Beale's point of view, a player with the experience of the Frenchman could quickly prove to be invaluable. What's more, M'Vila, himself, has stated his desire to play for the club, highlighting his potential commitment. In what would be a free deal, there's not much risk involved for Sunderland either, if they agree on a short-term contract.

In the best-case scenario, a player with previous Premier League experience plays to that level and helps Sunderland on their way back up to England's first tier. But if he does fail to perform, the worst-case outcome is that the Black Cats could be to simply cut ties. It seems like one that is certainly worth keeping an eye on.

The South African Cricketers’ Association addressed a letter to the board regarding alleged breaches of agreement related to CSA’s decision radically restructure domestic cricket

The South African Cricketers Association (SACA) has threatened legal action against Cricket South Africa (CSA) over alleged breaches of agreement related to CSA’s decision to radically restructure domestic cricket.From 2021, CSA is planning to scrap the franchise system, reverting to the provincial model in domestic cricket as part of austerity measures designed to offset projected losses of R 654 million (USD 45 million approx) over the next four years. But SACA has repeatedly expressed concerns over the plan, insisting that it had not been properly consulted or given the relevant financial information regarding the challenges CSA is facing.SACA, through its lawyers, addressed a letter to CSA on Friday detailing its grievances, with SACA saying its concerns over the restructuring exercise “have simply been ignored by CSA”.ALSO READ: Explainer on CSA’s austerity measures”We reiterate our concerns around the financial position and around a decision, which has significant consequences both for the game and the players, taken without regard to our agreements and without following the consultation process specifically provided for in our Recognition Agreement,” SACA president Omphile Ramela said.”SACA cares about the financial sustainability of the game, and this is not only about what happens next year but also about the years to come. Our concerns relating to this have simply been ignored by CSA.”We also care about ensuring the best possible domestic structure for the players and the game and believe that this should be the subject of proper consultation and agreement instead of there being a decision, which will have significant consequences, forced on us and the players.”SACA’s statement marks the latest episode in a spat that has rumbled on since CSA announced the restructuring plan in early April.The relationship between the two organisations hit a new low when SACA claimed that its chief executive Tony Irish had been barred from attending a meeting at which the changes to domestic cricket were discussed. While SACA’s latest move has made clear its willingness to take legal action against CSA, Irish said the organisation is still open to engaging CSA on the relevant issues.”Our lawyers have made it clear to CSA that its failure to comply with our agreements may well lead to legal action,” Irish said. “At the same time, we are open to finding responsible solutions to the financial challenges facing cricket and to ensuring the best outcomes from a cricket point of view. We have invited CSA to engage in mediation on the issues. If CSA fails to comply and does not accept our invitation to mediate, SACA will be compelled to take the legal route.”A CSA spokesperson, meanwhile, told ESPNcricinfo it was “unfortunate that SACA chose to issue a press release as a means of communicating with CSA.” The spokesperson added that no letter had yet been received as of Friday evening. “We have noted the same this Friday evening and will respond shortly.”

– É incrível! Eu desde que cheguei no Ceará disse que queria fazer história. E mesmo com um ano conturbado na questão da pandemia, não só eu mas como todo o elenco conseguimos fazer história e bater recordes. Fico feliz de estar na história e meu desejo de ter renovado com o Ceará é que ainda quero fazer mais. Sei da dificuldade e sei que aumenta a responsabilidade. Mas me preparo não só fisicamente como mentalmente a cada dia pra assumir – afirmou.

Com 13 gols e nove assistências, Vina liderou a surpreendente campanha do “Vôzão” no Brasileirão e foi decisivo em praticamente todos os momentos chave na competição. Segundo o atleta, a maturidade foi o principal fator para a grande fase.

– Maturidade como ser humano e atleta. Mas sempre deixando bem claro que contei com a ajuda de todos no clube e da minha família. Futebol te exige manter a regularidade pra você estar sempre no topo. É o que eu procurei e consegui a temporada toda. Eu sou um cara que me cobro bastante. Como tudo na vida tem um lado bom e um lado ruim nisso. O bom que a cada dia penso e faço coisas para evoluir. O lado ruim, como sempre no futebol, é a derrota. Eu assumo muito a responsabilidade nesse quesito. Sempre penso o que podia ter feito pra ter evitado. Mas nisso há o lado que me fortalece ainda mais – explicou.

Mas não só a maturidade e o crescimento fora de campo contribuíram para a fase. Segundo o próprio meia, grandes fatores foram a alimentação, sono e o treinamento extra.

– Com certeza tudo isso. É um combo que te faz entrar em campo tranquilo. A preparação tem que ser bem feita pra você poder executar no jogo tudo que pode. Com a pandemia tive alguns momentos de reflexão muito forte e isso me fez enxergar melhor as situações e poder fazer diferente algumas coisas. Hoje me sinto muito mais atleta e preparado pra jogar em alto nível. É continuar fazendo o que venho fazendo mas nunca se dar por satisfeito. Vou sempre procurar evoluir pra manter minha regularidade – concluiu.

وتابع: “يقول المدرب إنهم لا يستطيعون المنافسة للفوز بلقب الدوري الإنجليزي ودوري أبطال أوروبا، لا يمكنك أن تقول هذا”.
