Chelsea's manager candidate Mauricio Pochettino is an appointment that could go down 'very well' at Stamford Bridge, says journalist Dean Jones.

What's the latest news involving Mauricio Pochettino?

As per BBC Sport, Chelsea are in 'advanced talks' to appoint Pochettino as their new manager following an extensive search for a permanent successor to Graham Potter.

The report states that former Bayern Munich boss Julian Nagelsmann was also in the running alongside contenders Luis Enrique and Vincent Kompany; however, it now looks like it will be the former Tottenham Hotspur man that will take the reins at Stamford Bridge.

Seemingly, Pochettino has already started to lay down his authority in west London despite still not being officially appointed, with The Telegraph reporting that the 51-year-old will ask forgotten man Romelu Lukaku if he wants to try and revive his career at the club next season.

Of course, the Belgium international was sent on loan to Inter Milan at the start of 2022/23, though he could now be set for an unexpected second chance if Pochettino is duly installed as the man to lead the Blues forward.

Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, journalist Jones reckons that Pochettino could be an exciting appointment at Stamford Bridge.

Jones said: "The Pochettino appointment is going down very well at Chelsea. I've spoken to a lot of season ticket holders that are excited and think this is the right decision. Inside the club they are excited too. At first there was some apprehension, because this is not the first time they have wanted him.

"The difference this time is that the manager role is vacant, Poch seems very assured that this is better timing for him, and any concerns were quelled quite fast. He's very open to working with this squad, I was told the young talent they have been buying is something that impresses him and he is keen to make those signings work.

"The plan to keep having Academy players involved is important too and Pochettino is totally onside with that and the identity they need to build and the reconnections that need to be built between the players on the pitch and the fans in the stands.

"This is a good step in that direction and the timing of all this allows the season to end in optimism.

"Of course, there are players that will have to leave, but nothing is fazing him right now. I think the PSG experience has given him a toughness that means he feels totally ready for turning Chelsea around. It is a good time to go in – let's face it, things really can not get much worse."

Can Mauricio Pochettino turn Chelsea's fortunes around at Stamford Bridge?

Pochettino looks like he could be a solid appointment for Chelsea and the fact he has a proven track record of turning teams around, such as Tottenham, shows that he could be the missing link at Stamford Bridge to turn the Blues' fortunes around.

In his time at The Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, the Argentinian coach managed to take the Lilywhites to four consecutive top-four finishes in the Premier League and also led his former side to the Champions League final in 2019, unfortunately losing out to Liverpool in the final, as per Sky Sports.

His spell in charge of Paris Saint-German yielded the Ligue 1 title in 2021/22 alongside picking up the Coupe De France and French Super Cup in 2020/21, as per Transfermarkt.

Moving forward, Pochettino could be the man to get Chelsea back in a position to challenge for silverware regularly heading into 2023/24.

However, it is apparent – on the back of this season – that there will be a lot for the Argentine to sort out before the club can return to lifting trophies.

Glasgow Rangers have little to play for this season following their Scottish Cup semi-final defeat last weekend at Hampden.

Defeat ended their chances to defend the trophy they won last year, while their Old Firm rivals have the Premiership title all but wrapped up, with thoughts turning to 2023/24.

Michael Beale faces a challenging summer, with an overhaul of the playing squad badly needed, and this could define the rest of his tenure. If he gets it right, the Light Blues could challenge for the title, but get it wrong, and he could be on his way out of Ibrox.

There are seven first-team players out of contract this summer, with the likes of Filip Helander, Steven Davis and Allan McGregor all expected to depart in the coming weeks.

Beale should also be trying to move on some deadwood that could bring in some vital funds in order to build the team that he wants, and Scott Wright could be such a player heading for the exit door.

Could Scott Wright leave Rangers this summer?

Back in February, Football Insider reported that Rangers rejected offers for the winger in January, but they could be set to receive offers during the summer transfer window, with this being the prime opportunity to move him on.

Wright's performances this year have dropped considerably from 2021/22. Last season, he scored seven times and grabbed three assists, even netting in the Scottish Cup final victory over Hearts, yet he hasn’t kicked on this term.

Across 32 appearances in all competitions so far, Wright has managed to register just two assists, and if the club are aiming to dominate Scottish football once again, a major upgrade is surely required.

Former Ibrox defender Alan Hutton has previously criticised the player for his lack of attacking output, saying: “I think there is definitely a question mark over him.

“He has been used a lot as an impact sub and at times he has done well. I think he needs to do more. He has got the ability but he needs to do it on a [consistent] basis.

“So it would not surprise me if the manager is looking at different options. He will want to put his own stamp on the team as well.”

The £5.6k-per-week Scot has shown glimpses of his talent during his spell at the club, but this won't be good enough heading into one of the most important campaigns in Rangers' recent history.

Incoming Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino could play a crucial role in keeping Mason Mount at the club, journalist Ben Jacobs has claimed.

What's going on with Mason Mount?

The England international looks set to depart Stamford Bridge this summer as he enters the final year of his contract with no renewal in sight.

The 24-year-old has attracted interest from other top clubs including Liverpool, but there is still a chance he could stay at Chelsea under Pochettino, who is set to take charge of the club at the end of this season.

Speaking to Football FanCast, Jacobs claimed that Pochettino sees Mount as an important player, and that he could even extend his deal if he stays under the Argentine.

"He has stressed as well how important he thinks Mason Mount is to the football club, which could be a factor in trying to get Mason Mount to extend amidst interest from Liverpool," he stated.

Should Chelsea sell Mason Mount?

Given the clubs reportedly interested in him, Chelsea could obtain a large fee for their academy product if he is sold this summer.

Mount has had an injury-hit season in what has been a difficult year for his club, and Chelsea need to make sales in order to comply with financial fair play rules.

The 24-year-old could therefore be an ideal player to sell, as with Chelsea seemingly targeting a central midfielder in the summer window, he may lose his spot in the starting eleven.

Mount has provided just three goals and two assists in 24 league appearances this season, and given the big-money arrivals of Enzo Fernandez and Mykhailo Mudryk, as well as the club potentially keeping loanee Joao Felix, it may be better for all parties for Mount to move on.

Mount, who had been described as "unbelievable" by former Chelsea star Joe Cole, could become a key figure at Liverpool, who are searching for central midfielder this summer, and a move away could help him regain his form.

Chelsea, meanwhile, have been linked with Declan Rice and Moises Caicedo, but without European football, it may be hard to attract such in-demand players. With the future of Mateo Kovacic up in the air, it is clear that arrivals are needed in the centre of the park, whether or not Mount leaves.

A big sale such as Mount could prevent him leaving for free next season, and could help fund more transfers for Chelsea. If an extension looks unlikely this summer, then a departure would likely be the best option for the club.

The Yorkshire outfit are in a unique situation, however.

Current interim manager Sam Allardyce, who was very much hired for the short-term, could have a huge say in who is next in the dugout at Elland Road.

Could Leeds appoint Arne Slot?

Keep Leeds up and there will surely be a huge amount of interest in taking over such a well-supported, well-respected Premier League club, with the potential to grow on and off the pitch.

If Allardyce fails, any new manager would have to navigate the sales of Leeds' best players as they return to the Championship – a league which is notoriously difficult to get out of, which would surely make it a far less attractive proposition.

One man who could be tempted to Elland Road by chairman Andrea Radrizzani if Allardyce pulls it out of the bag is Feyenoord manager Arne Slot after the Dutchman admitted in February that Leeds' interest was a "compliment" but he remained with the Eredivisie side to help them win the league title.

Leeds, alongside Crystal Palace and Tottenham Hotspur, are said to be keen to bring the 44-year-old to the Premier League this summer after his impressive performances with the Dutch champions.

Back in February, Slot was described as "probably the most exciting head coach I’ve seen in 10 years" by Dutch football expert Marcel van der Kraan on talkSPORT, while he has also been tipped to emulate Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag by former Chelsea boss Guus Hiddink.

Slot is certainly a man with a growing reputation and his attacking style of play could fit Leeds perfectly, especially if it sees him get the best out of one of his former players, Luis Sinisterra.

Could Slot unlock Luis Sinisterra at Leeds?

It has been a frustrating first season for the Colombia international at Elland Road as regular injury problems have meant that he has featured in just 19 Premier League games this season, resulting in a total of only five goals, via WhoScored.

He has shown glimpses of quality, though, with recent goals against Nottingham Forest, Liverpool and Leicester City but given he was signed for £21m, his lack of game time suggests that his time in Yorkshire thus far cannot be considered a great success thus far.

At the time of writing, no player has scored more goals for Slot at Feyenoord than Sinisterra, having contributed an impressive 23 goals and 14 assists in just 48 appearances, leading to the attention of Leeds and many other potential suitors last summer.

Signing players from the Eredivisie has historically been a gamble for Premier League clubs, with ex-Spurs dud Vincent Janssen and former Everton flop Davy Klaasen two memorable examples of players who failed to cut the mustard, but Sinisterra could still prove his worth at Leeds under a manager who clearly knows how to get the best out of him.

If Radrizzani can convince the title-winning head coach that his future should lie in west Yorkshire over the English capital, then his transfer gamble in Sinisterra could finally pay off next season.

Eoin Morgan and Ryan Higgins both made fifties but 144 for 8 never looked enough and Glamorgan knocked off the runs for the loss of one wicket with 21 balls to spare.Mark Wallace led the way with 69 not out, David Lloyd contributing 49 in a 125-run opening partnership and Colin Ingram finished things emphatically with three successive sixes off Ollie Rayner.Two wins from their remaining five South group matches should now secure Glamorgan a place in the last eight but Middlesex have work to do to join them.Dawid Malan criticised the decision to play at Richmond. “It is frustrating coming from a county ground to a club ground,” he said. “Personally I don’t think professional cricketers should play at club grounds, you never know what wicket you will get. Wagg’s next over went for 20 as the Zimbabwean-born bat reached the first 50 of his career finishing unbeaten on 57 from 41 balls.The last 31 balls had gone for 78 runs but Middlesex still looked 20-30 runs short. Needing early wickets Malan gave Toby Roland-Jones, newly called into the England Test squad, three overs from the off. However, the breakthrough proved elusive. Roland-Jones did induce a false shot from Wallace, when the batsman was on nine, but the ball looped gently short of point.Wallace took swift advantage, lobbing a high full toss from Fuller for four, and cutting the subsequent free-hit to the same boundary. وأفاد: “لقد كانا في نفس المنزل في الأيام القليلة الماضية، أنت لا تتجادل مع شخص ما إذا لم تكن لديك علاقة رائعة معه، يحدث هذا لأن لديك الثقة والكيمياء للرد بالطريقة التي تصرفوا بها”.

وعن سبب عدم تعاقد آرسنال مع مهاجم في انتقالات يناير، أوضح: “أنا أحب لاعبي فريقي، أعتقد أننا سنسجل الأهداف غدًا ونكون في المقدمة”.

وبشأن سبب رحيل لينو سوزا، علّق: “لقد كان قرار النادي، كان لديه وضع خاص حقًا فيما يتعلق بعقده، النادي قرر أن هذا هو القرار الأفضل وأنا أؤيد هذا القرار”.

وعما إذا كان يريد رؤية المزيد من لاعبي الأكاديمية يحصلون على الفرص، أجاب: “نحن بالتأكيد نريد أن نفعل ذلك، أولاً وقبل كل شيء، نحن بحاجة إلى إنتاج تلك المواهب وعليهم أن يكتسبوها”.

وإذا كانت هناك جودة كافية في الأكاديمية لمنح الفريق الأول فرصًا مثل ليفربول، أكد: “اليوم، لإعطاء الفرص واللعب في الفريق الأول بالمستوى المطلوب فلا نملك ذلك بعض الشيء”.
