In what was a huge game at the top of the Premier League, Liverpool made the trip to the Etihad Stadium on Saturday lunchtime hoping to aid their push for Champions League football.

Jurgen Klopp and co actually took the lead too when Mohamed Salah finished emphatically in the 17th minute. However, City took just ten minutes to respond when a flowing move saw Jack Grealish put one on a plate for Julian Alvares to equalise.

No doubt, Arsenal fans at home would have been watching on nervously as they were hoping for Liverpool to take some points off their title rivals, with the home team eight points behind the Gunners at the start of play.

With that deficit in mind, Guardiola was evidently kicking every ball and deeply immersed in the game and couldn’t hold back his emotions when Alvarez pulled his side level in the first half.

Indeed, as footage here shows, the City manager punched the air and celebrated in front of his own fans, before he then seemed to direct a few air punches in the direction of Tsimikas who was just walking past at the wrong moment.

Coincidentally, the Spaniard arrived in the summer of 2018 as a replacement for Thibaut Courtois, and after the Belgian helped Los Blancos to a 2-0 win over Chelsea in the Champions League quarter-finals this week, the Blues will surely be wishing they hadn't let him go so cheaply five years ago.

Will Chelsea regret selling Courtois?

Chelsea signed the Belgium international from Genk in 2011 for a fee of just £7.9m and he would spend the next three seasons on loan with Atletico Madrid in Spain, keeping 76 clean sheets in 154 appearances for the La Liga outfit.

He then returned to Stamford Bridge in order to dispel Petr Cech as the number one in between the sticks.

He would go on to make 154 appearances for Chelsea and established himself as one of the best goalkeepers in the world, so it was no surprise when Real Madrid came calling in 2018, with the west London outfit perhaps forced into a sale due to the shot-stopper's contract situation.

Courtois had just one year left on his deal at Stamford Bridge and had been vocal about returning to Spain to be closer to his children, but Chelsea were able to get just £35m for a player who was considered one of Europe's best in his position.

He has gone on to make 217 times for the Spanish giants, and 'dropped the greatest goalkeeping performance in Champions League final history' – as per GOAL – to win the tournament for the first time in his career last summer.

Praise has been forthcoming for a number of years now with former manager Zinedine Zidane full of adulation for the 6 foot 6 stopper in 2020, saying:

"Courtois has shown from the beginning that he is a great goalkeeper, he has always been among the best in the world."

Unsurprisingly, Courtois' performances across his time at the Santiago Bernabeu have seen his transfer value shoot up, with Football Transfers now suggesting that he could be worth as much as up to €73.2m (£64m), which represents a big increase on the £35m Madrid paid in 2018.

At just 30, the Belgian could easily remain Madrid's first choice for the significant future and considering Chelsea's own goalkeeper struggles in recent seasons, they will surely be wishing that Courtois had committed his future to Stamford Bridge back in 2018.

YouTuber Conor McGilligan has slammed Leeds United for their recruitment amid links to winger Abde Ezzalzouli.

What's the latest on Abde Ezzalzouli and Leeds?

The Whites look to be in real trouble as we head into the final stage of this Premier League campaign. While they may be two points above the bottom three, they appear to be in a real crisis.

Indeed, Leeds were thrashed 6-1 by Liverpool at Elland Road on Monday night and this follows up the 5-1 defeat at home by Crystal Palace in the game prior.

And so, with just seven league games left to go, the possibility of relegation looms larger and larger for Javi Gracia and his side.

While talking about the poor form on the One Leeds Fan Channel, McGilligan explained how the issues in the team's quality exist due to poor recruitment.

With that in mind, he slammed the idea that the club could already be on the look out for "another winger" in the summer.

He said (20:37): “It comes back to recruitment, doesn't it? The recruitment which has been shambolic. The profiles of players have been shambolic.

“I'm reading today, from a very two very decent sources as well – and I followed up the questions about it, and I’m not going to say on here who it was – but Leeds are looking at another winger, apparently, bringing him in already. Another winger…"

Do Leeds need another winger?

While McGilligan doesn't directly name who Leeds could be interested in signing, it's quite likely that he is referring to Ezzalzouli.

Indeed, as per Sport, the Whites have been in talks with the 21-year-old Moroccan's agent while he is currently on loan with Osasuna from parent club Barcelona.

Seeing as Leeds already have the likes of Jack Harrison, Brenden Aaronson, Luis Sinisterra, Wilfried Gnonto and Crysencio Summerville who can operate on the wing, it does seem a bit odd to chase another player in that position.

What's more, of that lot, Aaronson, Sinisterra and Gnonto all arrived in the last summer transfer window, so it certainly shows a lack of planning from the board if they already feel as though that part of the pitch needs to be addressed with more spending.

Earning a weekly reported wage of around £3k-p/w, a move for Ezzalzouli might not break the bank for Leeds. Regardless of that, though, it's hard to understand why he's being targeted now when the club have so many wingers already.

وتابع: “نناشد كل مجالس الإدارة والجماهير المصرية، القلة التي تواجدت اليوم لا تُمثل كل الجمهور، يجب أن نوعي بعضنا، وأشكر الشركة الإفريقية على احتواء المشاجرة اليوم خلال لحظات، لكن لا د أن نُساعدهم”.

واستكمل: “خلال 72 ساعة سيتم إصدار العقوبات، وسنستمر ولن يوقفنا أحد ولن نعود للوراء، نحن في دولة قوية وجمهور الكرة المصرية يستحق أفضل من ذلك”.

West Ham United fell to a 2-1 defeat at home to Liverpool, but the result could have been very different as they were denied a penalty late on.

David Moyes' side have had a resurgence in recent weeks as they edge closer to Premier League safety, whilst also balancing their domestic campaign with the Europa Conference League.

The Hammers took the lead against Liverpool through a fine strike from Lucas Paqueta, but the visitors came back to dominate and claimed all three points.

Danny Ings fired a shot which struck Thiago Alcantara's arm in the box, but no penalty was awarded despite a VAR check.

As seen in the footage, the ball does clearly make contact with the Spaniard's arm, but given Thiago was falling as the ball hit him, his arm may have been considered to be in a natural position.

Given the distance from his arm to his body as contact is made, as well as the fact that Thiago had lunged in for a challenge in the build-up to the incident, West Ham have been left seething at the decision. Moyes expressed his anger at the call, accusing the VAR officials of a lack of respect for his side as the Hammers dropped points in the relegation battle as a result of the decision.

Former Irons midfielder Joe Cole claimed that it should have been a penalty, as Thiago going to ground should have meant that the attacker be given the benefit of the doubt as a result of the handball.

With the incident happening so late in the game, it is hard to look past the fact that West Ham would have had a glorious chance to equalise from the spot if the penalty was awarded, and whilst it may not affect their survival hopes too much, Moyes may feel justified in his anger towards the decision.

From a more cynical point of view, you could argue that these decisions even themselves out over the course of a season, and West Ham have got away with some VAR clangers this term.

Indeed, Tomas Soucek went unpunished when he appeared to handle in the box against Chelsea back in February as the Hammers held on for a point. That said, two wrongs don't make a right.

Thankfully, West Ham don't have to wait too long to put things right as they seek to edge further away from the drop in a London derby at Crystal Palace this weekend, before a trip to reigning champions Manchester City.

كشفت تقارير صحفية أن لاعب فريق ليفربول، أوين بيك، لن يستطيع المشاركة في مباراة الغد المرتقبة في إطار منافسات بطولة كأس الاتحاد الإنجليزي.

Dowell possesses Premier League experience, making 19 English top flight appearances for Norwich last season.

The Englishman has built upon that campaign since, chipping in with eight goal contributions in the Championship this year as Norwich remain firmly in play-off contention.

Signing Dowell for free would come as a fairly low risk move by Gers chiefs, especially considering he ranks among their best for key passes made per 90 in the final third this season (WhoScored).

He could provide that spark of creativity under Beale as the likes of Kent and Morelos edge nearer to summer exits from the Scottish football giants.
